COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - Ryan McGonigle scored his 13th goal of the season and dished out an assist to lead No. 12 Franklin & Marshall over Ursinus 2-0 in Centennial Conference (CC) men's soccer action on Wednesday.

The Diplomats (15-1, 7-1 CC) scored two second half goals for their 15th victory, setting a new program record for most wins in a season and also clinching hosting rights for the upcoming CC tournament.

Matt McCall scored the game-winning goal in the 49th minute and Zack Zamek only needed one save on seven shots by the Bears (7-7-2, 2-4-2 CC) for his ninth shut out.

F&M came out strong in the first half, taking 11 shots and having three of them hit the post. Matthew Krantz knocked two off the side bar, while Andrew DeMaio ricocheted one off the far post with 2:08 remaining in the first half.

McCall put the Diplomats up 1-0 with 3:02 gone in the second half with a low-drive shot into the far left corner on a pass from McGonigle.

Three minutes, 52 seconds later, McGonigle headed the ball past Ed de Gottal off a cross from Chris Walters to make it 2-0 with 38 minutes left to play.

LANCASTER, Pa. - The No. 18 Franklin & Marshall men's soccer team took over sole possession of first place in the Centennial Conference (CC) with a 2-1 overtime upset of No. 11 Johns Hopkins on Saturday night at North Campus Athletic Field.

In front of a Homecoming crowd of 1,650 people, Brandon Corday struck gold in the 94th minute off a pass from Ryan McGonigle to help the Diplomats (14-1, 5-1 CC) defeat the Blue Jays (13-3, 5-2 CC) for the first time since Oct. 30, 1993.

With the victory, F&M ties the school record for most wins in a season with 14 that was set in 2006 and it also marks the second year in a row the Diplomats have gone undefeated at home.

McGonigle not only assisted the game winner, but put the Diplomats on the board at the 12:26 mark for a 1-0 lead. Matt McCall sent a pass to the middle and McGonigle, who faked out Matt Mierley one way and placed the ball into the left corner of the goal.

F&M held Hopkins without a shot in the first half, but the Blue Jays capitalized on their third shot in the second. Scott Bukoski took a shot from five yards out that deflected off a defender to knot the game at 1-all in the 63rd minute.

Both teams battled for the remaining 17 minutes and both unable to get the game winner in regulation.

With just 3:03 gone in overtime, McGonigle gathered the ball off a corner kick and saw Corday take off from midfield. McGonigle sent the ball from F&M's defensive end and over midfield to a sprinting Corday, who finished a 1v1 opportunity for the win.

Zack Zamek tallied three saves, while Mierley made five stops.

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Ladule Lako Lo Sarah scored the golden goal with 4:29 left in the first overtime period to help Swarthmore pull a 1-0 upset over No. 9 Franklin & Marshall in Centennial Conference (CC) men's soccer action on Saturday night.

The Garnet (8-2-3, 3-2-1 CC) made their seventh shot of the evening count, getting the game winner on the only one Lo Sarah took to end the Diplomats (13-1, 5-1 CC) undefeated season and put the chances of tying a school record for most wins on hold.

Lo Sarah came off the bench and netted his seventh goal of the season, working around a defender and sliding the ball into the near side in the 96th minute for Swarthmore's eighth win.

The statistics were in favor of Franklin & Marshall, outshooting Swarthmore 21-7 and holding a 10-2 corner kick advantage. Brandon Corday led the Diplomats with seven shots.

Ryan Sutcliffe tallied five saves, while Zack Zamek made one stop.
